Follow the salt railway's legacy
Torrevieja's tourism service places the route between the old train station and the municipal boundary towards Los Montesinos. It follows a former railway linked to salt production. Consult the map to choose where to join and how to return; using the greenway does not provide unrestricted access to the saltworks themselves.
View the lagoon from permitted areas
The salt lagoons are part of a protected area with continuing industrial activity. Torrevieja's tourism service states that swimming in the lagoon, entering restricted areas and collecting salt or natural material are prohibited. Its colour may be part of the attraction, but it is not an invitation to enter the water or leave the route for a photograph.
Match the outing to the light and your group
Our suggestion is to choose a cooler part of the day and combine the outing with time elsewhere in town. Carry water, do not rely on continuous shade and share the path considerately. For accessibility requirements, ask about the specific section and its current condition. Organised saltworks visits have separate arrangements that need to be confirmed independently.
