Between Agost and the Maigmó pass, an old railway alignment exchanges the coast for viaducts, eroded terrain and Mediterranean hillsides. This walking or cycling outing works best when the chosen section, direction and weather match the experience of your group.

01

A landscape that changes as you travel

Official sources describe a former railway alignment with tunnels and viaducts. Agricultural land, eroded formations and the approach to the mountains give it a distinctive character. You do not need to complete the entire route: consult the official map, select a section and decide where to turn back before starting the outing.

02

Allow for tunnels and gradients

The Ministry's Caminos Naturales description warns that the tunnels are unlit. Bring a suitable light even for a daytime outing and slow down around other users. Watch for crossings and the section shared with vehicles. A railway origin does not remove gradients or accessibility needs. For wheelchairs, pushchairs or adapted cycles, check the particular section and its condition.

03

Plan the return as well

For a one-way trip, arrange how you will retrieve your vehicle or return to the start in advance. On an out-and-back outing, keep energy and water for both directions. If staying in Alicante, confirm transport to your chosen starting point around Agost or the pass. Check weather alerts and any route notices before travelling.

Before your visit.

Yes. The official description lists unlit tunnels. Bring a suitable light and check that it works before setting off.

Must I complete the whole route?

No. Choose a section that suits your group and plan the return using the official map and current route information.
