In June, Alicante invites a different kind of walk: one corner leads to a temporary monument and the next to a marching band. The Bonfires of Saint John are an invitation to notice details, understand the satire and share the atmosphere of the neighbourhoods.
Discover the festival before the flames
The plantà installs the bonfire monuments in the streets; their scenes and ninots combine artistic craftsmanship with social commentary. The cremà marks their farewell on 24 June. To appreciate the artists' work, plan a daytime walk too: there is plenty to discover before the monuments burn.
Choose a route you can enjoy
Choose a few monuments on the official map and allow time between events. Check street closures, your return transport and reserved areas before setting out. For a quieter experience, focus on visiting the monuments and avoid standing close to pyrotechnic events. Always respect marked safety boundaries.
The Bonfires also have a museum
Outside the festival days, the Hogueras Museum explores its development through saved ninots, costumes and documents. It can make a useful first stop for understanding what you will later see in the streets. Check current opening arrangements and combine the visit with a walk through the city centre.

Which dates should I book?
The usual main festival dates are 20–24 June. Before booking, check the programme for the edition you plan to attend: other events may fall outside that period.
Do I need a ticket for everything?
Do not assume every event has the same admission arrangements. Check whether your chosen event or space requires a booking, seat or specific access, using the channels identified by the organiser.
