Serra Mariola brings together mountain scenery and towns worth including in the trip. On its Alicante side, Alcoy, Cocentaina and Muro de Alcoy are useful starting references. Montcabrer, springs and historic snow wells shape the identity of a range shared with Valencia province. The best first decision is to choose one area and enjoy it slowly, rather than treating the park as a single point on the map.
A landscape with a past
Historic snow wells recall the former snow trade, while springs and paths reveal the relationship between the towns and mountains. The park publishes options including A la sombra de las cavas and Camino de aguas. Read their descriptions before choosing; a route's name does not establish its difficulty.
Locate the centre and your starting point
The interpretation centre is at Mas d’Ull de Canals, beside the road between Alcoy and Banyeres de Mariola. It is not the starting point for every route. Confirm opening arrangements and use the park's maps to plan travel to the area you want to explore.
Combine mountain and town
A walking day can end with a stroll through the town where you are staying. Allow time to return and match the effort to the group. Check water arrangements, weather and forest notices before leaving; a spring marked on a map does not guarantee flowing or drinkable water.

Do I need to climb Montcabrer?
